Adventure... there's loads of it in the Scottish Borders and soon we'll be donating a whole section to it so keep watching!

Active Sports, based at The Chain Bridge, Melrose is the great hub of adventuring activities in the Borders.

Run by Tom Prentice who's enthusiasm hasn't waned in 27 years of soaking up experience in this field, the company now has a huge number of activities of offer.

From archery with Real McCoy bows (beginners to advanced anywhere you like) to canoeing and kayaking on local rivers opportunities for adventure are almost boundless.

You can try Clay Pigeon Shooting, dirt biking, wind surfing or even vertical assault.

Active Sports also run an A.T.V school (all terrain vehicle if you're stuck with that one) near Selkirk and they even organise expeditions in very hairy locations.

Fly high over the Borders in a balloon

Now what could be more exciting?! (Except perhaps a lottery win, but at least this is adventure in the sky rather than pie in the sky...)

Alba Ballooning offers flights over the northern Scottish Borders from mid March to late October.

Check out customer feedback on the their web site to read about some of the 500 flights since they started in 2000.
