Walking in the Scottish Borders

Walking in the Scottish Borders

Gala to host 2008 Walking Festival

This year's festival from 30 August to 6 September will be the largest Borders walking event yet offering a range of guided walks for all ages and abilities. Fifty walks will take place throughout the Moorfoots, Lammermuirs and Cheviot hill ranges and the Yarrow, Ettrick and Tweed valleys.

The event offers a diverse range of entertainment in the evenings including a traditional song and story night, film night, ghost evening, quiz and grand ceilidh. Eerie secrets will be revealed at Old Gala House and its gardens - be there and prepare to be scared!

Bookings are now being taken for all walks and entertainment.

For full details of the programme, register with VisitScotland on 0870 608 0404 (option 1) or visit any local Scottish Borders Tourist Information Centre.

The festival brochure, maps and booking form are also available online at: www.scotborders.gov.uk/walkingfestival
