Glen Cafe, St. Marys Loch

Glen Cafe, St. Marys Loch

What is this life if full of care
We have no time to sit and stare?

This place is magical and a great place just to sit and stare. A long wooden hut perched on the banks of the lovely Loch of the Lowes by St. Mary's Loch, this cafe will put you under its spell. After gazing on the loch as you eat delicious home made fare, perhaps catching sight of an osprey lifting a fish out of the water, you'll be planning your next visit. The cafe has a great ethos - owner Ian and his wife Barbara run more than a cafe, they provide a hub to the community where local crafts and ethical bamboo T shirts are sold. It's a workplace for lovely Polish couple Kate and Bart, and, as highlighted by The Guardian, one of the best roadside cafes in the country.
You can happily spend half a day there. Go for coffee, wander down to the little beach at the loch side, saunter back for lunch, play a game or two of leisurely chess or lounge in the cumfy sofas enjoying yet another coffee, this time with one of Barbara's tantalising chocolate brownies. Be entranced...
