Return to the Ridings

A celebration of Homecoming Scotland 2009

For the first time the historic Scottish Borders common ridings are coming together to celebrate Homecoming Scotland 2009.

The ridings of Hawick, West Linton, Selkirk, Peebles, Melrose, Galashiels, Jedburgh, Duns, Kelso, Lauder and Coldstream are joining ranks for this celebration aimed at attracting some of Scotland's diaspora back home.

Each town is publishing a post card with a memorable image of its common riding to be sent out by Borderers to their relatives in far flung corners of the globe.

Other Homecoming 2009 events planned so far include Footsteps of the Reivers, a walking festival from 5-13 September, based in Jedburgh and Hawick, and the gathering of the Scott, Turnbull and Elliot clans.

If you are involved in events for the Homecoming please let us know!
