Golf

Many of us know that golf is a glorious pastime - you're out breathing the freshest of air, marvelling at the beauty of the countryside, exercising a fair bit and trying to get a tiny ball into an only slightly bigger hole hundreds of yards away.

Fortunately, golfing in the Borders caters for all levels of ability with fun practice ranges for those who want to learn how to hit the thing to the glories of The Roxburghe Golf Club, a recently designed 18-hole championship course which has already attracted some of the greatest players in the world.
This is golfing paradise. Honest (and if you're addicted to this wonderful sport check out visitscotland's Freedom of the Fairways which will give you a week-long passport to many of the courses from April to October. An absolute bargain to give you the most memorable holiday).

Many thanks to Peter Smith from Horsham in Surrey who came up to the Scottish Borders to play the game on the Freedom of the Fairways scheme for the tenth year in succession with a posse his of his golfing friends.

He has taken some superb photos for us which you'll see as this site develops. The first is of The Hirsel which we feels does this beautiful course justice. More to follow...
