Cinema and film clubs

Like many rural areas of the UK, cinemas have been disappearing quicker than you can say: "Git off yer horse and drink yer milk" (Mr. J Wayne).

Fortunately, the family-run Pavilion Cinema in Galashiels has survived and thrived. It has four screens generally showing mainstream films tho' it has been known to stray to the more oblique. This spring it screened Puccini's 'La Boheme' transmitted live from New York's Grand Met and tickets at £25 didn't stop it becoming an instant sell out. More please!

Other places to see films in the Scottish Borders are:

The Wynd Theatre, Melrose

The Hub at Hawick

The Maltings Theatre, Berwick-on-Tweed

...and local film clubs (off to check them out - will let you know pronto!)
