Walk it grows again!

Walk It, the Scottish Borders Council (SBC) and NHS Borders Paths to Health initiative, has added four new walks to its existing fourteen walks in the region.

New walks are in and around Innerleithen, Hawick Town Centre, Tweedbank, Galashiels and Darnick.Earlier 2011 additions were around Coldstream, Chirnside and Earlston.

Walk It walks are social, safe, low level, led and free for people wanting exercise and an opportunity to meet new people. All walks follow easy access routes and last around one hour. They are led by qualified voluntary walk leaders.

In 2011 a healthy number of people took part in the Walk It walks. Over 1500 walker days were filled in over 200 separate led walks.

Walk It is also happy to support projects and workplace walking groups and had great success last year with projects for Disabled Walkers in conjunction with the Borders Disability Forum.
