Cobbles, Kelso

It's lunchtime, well early lunchtime, 12 noon, in fact, and we're first to arrive at the Cobbles Inn, Kelso.

We order a snack, parsnip and roasted apple soup followed by a starter portion of spicy fishcakes with salsa and salad. It's perfect, nothing more, nothing less, and the subtle quality of this food combined with an easy ambience and friendly staff give more than a hint of why this place is a past winner of Taste Scottish Borders Eating Out evening meal venue.
